Ambassador Chen Hai Exchanged Views with Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin on the development of China-Myanmar Relations

    On July 6, Ambassador Chen Hai exchanged views with Union Minister U Kyaw Tin on the development of China-Myanmar relations in Nay Pyi Taw.

    The two sides agreed to further deliver the results of the historic visit of President Xi Jinping, implement the important consensus reached by the heads of state in the late May phone call and continue to cooperate on pandemic prevention and control. Both sides will make good use of the China-Myanmar "fast-rack lane" and other mechanisms to promote the building China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, striving for development in Kyauk Phyu Special Economic Zone, China-Myanmar Border Economic Cooperation Zone, Yangon New City and major projects in electricity and transportation infrastructure.

    The two sides agreed that they will continue to hold activities related to the 70th anniversary of China-Myanmar diplomatic ties and the China-Myanmar Year of Culture and Tourism so as to enhance the public support for China-Myanmar Pauk-Phaw friendship. The two sides will continue to conduct joint pandemic prevention and control in border areas and border management.

    Ambassador Chen Hai introduced that China has passed the Law on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and established the Committee for Safeguarding National Security at both central government and SAR government levels. U Kyaw Tin reiterated that Myanmar has always supported "One Country, Two Systems" and China's measures to safeguard the stability and national security for Hong Kong SAR.
