Ambassador Chen Hai and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing Exchanged Views on China-Myanmar Relations

    On July 16, Ambassador Chen Hai and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing exchanged views on China-Myanmar relations in Nay Pyi Taw.

    Ambassador Chen introduced the development of China-Myanmar relations and positive progress made in bilateral practical cooperation. He said that China is ready to work with Myanmar people from all walks of life including the Myanmar military to promote the building of China-Myanmar community with a shared future, continue to do a good job in holding activities marking China-Myanmar 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties and China-Myanmar Year of Culture and Tourism. China will enhance disease prevention and control and practical cooperation in Kyauk Phyu special economic zone, China-Myanmar border economic cooperation zone, Yangon new city and cooperation projects in electricity, transportation, and agriculture so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples and make contributions to help Myanmar overcome the pandemic outbreak, stabilize the economy and improve people's livelihood. China will continue to assist Myanmar in advancing the peace process, support Myanmar in holding the Fourth Union Peace Conference - 21st Century Panglong and stand ready to strengthen coordination with Myanmar to jointly oppose external interference. It is hoped that the Myanmar military will continue to play an active role in carrying forward our Paukphaw friendship and promoting friendly cooperation.

    Commander-in-Chief Min Aung Hlaing warmly congratulated on the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army of China, saying that relations between the two countries and the two militaries have entered a new era and become even stronger. The Myanmar military will work with the government to promote the building of Myanmar-China community with a shared future. The Myanmar military supports the building of the Belt and Road Initiative and Myanmar-China Economic Corridor, which it believes will contribute to Myanmar's internal peace and development. It is willing to continue to provide strong support for the construction of relevant projects. The Myanmar military upholds the One-China policy, supports the Chinese government's positions on Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Tibet issues, and supports the measures taken by the Chinese side to safeguard national security and long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. The Myanmar military believes that the Hong Kong issue is purely China's internal affairs and no other country has the right to interfere. The Myanmar military appreciates China's support and assistance for the peace process in Myanmar and hopes that all parties in Myanmar can make joint efforts to realize lasting peace and stability in the country at an early date.
