On November 30, the achievement ceremony of initiatives for establishment of innovative model village level poverty reduction among LMC countries, supported by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund, was held in Ywar Thit Village, Bago Region, Myanmar. Chief Minister of Bago U Myo Swe Win, Deputy Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myint Soe, and Counselor Ouyang Daobing of the Chinese Embassy attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Around 200 participants from relevant departments and villagers were also present.
Counselor Ouyang congratulated the project achievements as expected, stating that the “small but beautiful” poverty reduction innovation initiatives have brought tangible benefits to local residents. He expressed China’s willingness to cooperate with Myanmar to accelerate technology transfer and knowledge sharing, implementing poverty reduction practices in rural areas to benefit the people of Myanmar.
The Myanmar side expressed their gratitude for China’s strong support, highlighting that the initiatives have benefited 535 households and 2,700 individuals. These efforts have upgraded village roads and water supply facilities, while enhancing the villagers’ skills in vegetable cultivation and handicrafts, thereby raising the living standards and sustainable development capabilities of local residents.
