On 13 May, H.E. Mr Hong Liang, Chinese Ambassador in Myanmar, paid a farewell call upon H.E. Senior General Myint Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of Tatmadaw.

Ambassador Hong said that the relations between the two militaries are constantly improving. China is willing to work with Myanmar to continue to uphold the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and friendship between the two countries, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields and continuously enrich the China-Myanmar Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership. It is hoped that under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor the two sides will jointly build a road to peace and a road to development in order to help Myanmar achieve internal peace, national reconciliation, development and prosperity at an early date.

Senior General Myint Aung Hlaing Spoke highly of the work done by Ambassador Hong in promoting the development of relations between the two countries and the two militaries. He also said that the current Myanmar-China relations is at its best in history and expressed thanks to China for its long-term support to Myanmar's national transition, economic and social development and the peace process. He said that Tatmadaw supports the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative and China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, and is willing to actively carry out pragmatic cooperation with China to better benefit the two countries and the two peoples.
