On March 25th, Myanmar’s official media outlets, including Global New Light Of Myanmar, Myanma Alinn Daily, Myawady Daily, and The Mirror, published the speech delivered by Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the reception celebrating the 10th anniversary of the first Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Leaders’ Meeting, as well as the signed article by Member of Myanmar’s State Security and Peace Commission and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe.

Wang Yi emphasized that the LMC has set an example for building a community with a shared future for humanity. Over the past decade, Lancang-Mekong countries have linked their future more closely together, gained more robust momentum for development, forged a stronger underpinning for security, and deepened people-to-people exchanges. He said that it is important to better synergize development strategies and jointly build an “LMC 2.0”, so as to set an LMC example for global governance.

U Than Swe stated that the LMC has achieved remarkable results over the past decade and become one of the most practical and efficient regional mechanisms for cooperation. The LMC Special Fund has made significant contributions to socio-economic development of the region. The six member countries are committed to working together in unity to build a Lancang-Mekong community with a shared future.
