On June 26th, the China-Myanmar Sports Exchange Activity, jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and the Myanmar Office of China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD), was held at University of Yangon. The event was attended by more than 200 people, including Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Zheng Zhihong, Rector at University of Yangon Dr. Thaung Htike, Deputy Director-General from the Yangon Region Education Office U Myo Win Aung, officials from Myanmar’s Union Minister of Education, and students from universities and primary schools.

Zheng Zhihong noted that sports serves as a platform for exchanges between diverse cultures. The Embassy has hosted multiple China-Myanmar friendly sports exchange and donation activities to support Myanmar athletes in pursuing their dreams to reach a higher height. The Embassy will continue to take sports as a starting point to better strengthen people-to-people bonds between the two countries, and inject new impetus into the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

U Myo Win Aung stated that Myanmar and China share profound “Pauk-Phaw” friendship, and expressed hope that sports exchange will advance people-to-people bonds and cultural exchanges between the two countries, better rally the united strength of young people, boost mutual understanding and respect, and help further deepen Myanmar-China friendship.

Embassy staff played a basketball match with teachers from Myanmar’s primary and secondary schools. Players gave their all and sweated freely, and spectators cheered enthusiastically. The score seesawed back and forth, filling the court with warm and convivial energy.
