On July 28th, Minister Counselor Zheng Zhihong attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 China-Myanmar Twin City Media Forum and the “Mountains Endear, Breezes Beckon” China-Myanmar Cultural Exchange Week in Yangon. The event was co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and the Ministry of Information of Myanmar. More than 260 guests were in attendance, including U Ye Tint, Deputy Minister for Information of Myanmar, Ren Yuanzheng, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Yunnan Daily Newspaper Group, as well as representatives from government agencies, media organizations, think tanks, and enterprises from both countries.

Minister Counselor Zheng noted that the China-Myanmar Twin City Media Forum has played a positive role in facilitating journalistic exchanges, mutual learning among civilizations, and people-to-people connectivity. He expressed hope that media organizations from both countries would actively implement the Global Civilization Initiative, work together to tell the story of China-Myanmar friendship, and pool greater consensus and strength for advancing the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

U Ye Tint said that the China-Myanmar “Pauk-Phaw” friendship is time-honored. He stressed that holding this forum session in Yangon for the first time was of great significance, and expressed hope that both sides would continue to deepen cooperation in areas such as media, culture, and artificial intelligence, and consolidate the friendly relations between China and Myanmar.

During the event, attendees watched a joint performance by Chinese and Myanmar artists and visited a cultural bazaar.
