On August 20th, the achievement ceremony of “scaling up innovative model villages for village-level poverty reduction among LMC countries in Delta Region” Project, funded by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Special Fund, was held in Ohnpinsu Village, Nyaungdon Township, Ayeyarwady Region. The event was attended by more than 300 participants, including Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Shen Dan, Myanmar’s Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myo Zaw Thein, Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister U Aye Kyaw, and villager representatives.

Shen Dan noted that in recent years, the LMC Special Fund has supported Myanmar in implementing several “small yet smart” rural poverty reduction projects, achieving positive results. China will continue to deepen practical cooperation with Myanmar within the LMC framework to promote greater achievements in building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

The Myanmar side expressed gratitude to China for supporting the poverty reduction model village project, which has benefited 726 villagers from 180 households and provided valuable lessons for rural development in other regions of Myanmar. Myanmar looks forward to further deepening cooperation with China in areas such as agricultural development and rural poverty reduction.
