On September 3rd, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and University of Yangon co-hosted the China-Myanmar Youth Exchange Event and 2026 Third Quarter China-Myanmar Media Tea Party. The event gathered around 300 attendees, including Minister Counselor Zheng Zhihong, Dr. Thaung Htike, the Rector of the University of Yangon, young diplomatic officials from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, faculty and students of the University of Yangon, Chinese students in Myanmar, and representatives from nearly 40 Chinese and Myanmar media organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions.

Zheng Zhihong noted that two-way youth exchanges between China and Myanmar help deepen mutual understanding and foster a stronger public opinion foundation for bilateral friendship. He expressed hope that young people from both sides will carry forward the “Pauk-Phaw” friendship, engage in civilizational exchanges, and promote win-win cooperation, contributing more youthful energy to a brighter future for China-Myanmar relations.

Thaung Htike said that young people play a vital role in sustaining China-Myanmar friendship and advancing the long‑term development of bilateral ties. He reaffirmed the commitment of the University of Yangon to supporting its students in learning more about China and growing into solid bridges for Myanmar-China exchanges and cooperation.

The event was filled with vibrant discussions, with participating youth engaging deeply on topics such as China-Myanmar friendship and people-to-people connectivity.
