On 22 August, H.E. Mr. Chen Hai, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar, met with H.E. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of Tatmadaw in Nay Pyi Taw. Ambassador Chen Hai said that the recent armed attacks in Northern Myanmar have brought about casualties and had a negative effect on the peace and stability in Northern Myanmar. China firmly opposes the attacks. China attaches great importance to the peace and tranquility in China-Myanmar border area, and resolutely supports Myanmar peace process. Ceasefire should continue and peace in Northern Myanmar be maintained. China will continue to play a constructive role in this regard.

       Senior General Min Aung Hlaing explained his views on the current situation in Northern Myanmar. The two sides exchanged views on maintaining peace and stability in Northern Myanmar and facilitating peace talks.
